Gas tariff up 13.8 per cent

Gas Tariff

From next month, the City Gas tariff for households will go up by 13.8 per cent, or 2.24 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) to 18.52 cents per kWh.

Gas tariffs are reviewed quarterly and adjusted in line with changes in the cost of feedstock for gas production, in turn pegged to the price of high sulphur fuel oil, said City Gas.

The tariff hike – which has been approved by the Energy Market Authority – is due largely to “significantly higher” prices of the latter over the last three months.
