Schumacher makes sensational return to F1
Jul 30th

ROME : Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is making a sensational return to Formula One, Ferrari announced on Wednesday.
The German motor racing legend, who retired in 2006, will replace injured Felipe Massa in the European Grand Prix in Valencia on August 23, and possibly for the remainder of the season.
“The Ferrari-Marlboro team plans to give Michael Schumacher Felipe Massa’s car until the Brazilian returns to competition,” Ferrari announced in a statement on its website carried by Italian news agency ANSA.
The statement added: “Michael Schumacher says he is available and in the coming days he will pursue a specific programme of preparation at the end of which it will be possible to confirm his participation in the European Grand Prix.”
Schumacher, 40, commented: “Ultimately I like challenges and this is a great challenge.”
“The important thing is that Massa gets better,” he continued, adding that he “just wanted to help the firm (Ferrari) when they needed it”.
Schumacher’s return was arranged at a meeting between him and Ferrari president Luca di Montezamolo at Ferrari’s headquarters at Maranello on Wednesday morning, ANSA reported.
News of his comeback to the sport he virtually made his own came 24 hours after the possibility had first been raised by his spokeswoman, Sabine Kehm.
“The whole thing will be considered by Ferrari. If they approach Michael, then he will consider it,” Kehm had told BBC Sport.
She added: “Usually, I would say he’s not interested because he’s fine with his life and he doesn’t miss anything but now the situation is so different – it’s very hypothetical – and Michael doesn’t want to step into that (discussion).”
Schumacher, who is on Ferrari’s pay roll as an advisor, will be filling in for Massa, who is recovering from surgery following his horrific high speed crash in qualifying for last weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
Only this month he had made it clear speaking at the German Grand Prix that he was not interested in making a full time comeback.
But the offer of a temporary return to the Ferrari cockpit obviously proved too much to resist for ‘Schumi’ who has recovered from a neck injury sustained in a motorcycle accident in February.

nudge! Instant Messenger 10
Jul 23rd

Before Tweets, FB and iPhone, there was IM. And even after that, IM will be around for the billions around the world who want to chat while at their desktops, laptops and mobile.
Believe it or not, 10 years ago in July, made its appearance and things haven’t quite been the same.
“We are really happy that users around the world have embraced Messenger” said Craig Law-Smith, Marketing Director, Online Services Group, Southeast Asia.
“It continues to be one of the favorite ways for people to stay in touch with the people who matter to them, simply because it’s just fun and easy to use.”
Back in 1999 the service first appeared as MSN Messenger and snowballed worldwide in just six months to 4.5 million users.
Today, there are more than 330 million active users and part of the reason could be the pervasiveness of Messenger which is available not just in 59 countries and 36 languages, but also on mobile phones with voice and video message options.
The strategy not to beat ‘em but join ‘em has also paid off for the Windows team with users able to link up with friends, family and everyone in between through popular networking social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
“The Windows Live Messenger offering is significantly more robust than ever before, with the introduction of features such as the What’s New feed, which allows our users to be constantly connected and updated through our partnerships with more than 20 social networking sites” said Law-Smith.
A decade since the arrival of Windows Messenger has seen more messaging services being offered by other providers, a move that can only be seen as the best form of flattery.
Looking to the next decade, the Windows team seems certain that Messenger could overtake Singapore’s current favourite form of communication – texting or SMS.
“Given that increasing numbers of consumers can now also use Windows Live Messenger on their mobile phones, we expect to see the number of instant messages sent daily to increase even further and eventually reach and overtake the daily number of SMSes sent by Singaporeans which currently stands at 60 million” says Craig Law-Smith.
Currently the chatter in Singapore through Messenger is about 51 million messages per day.
So the magic number for Windows Messenger is yet again, the perfect 10.

Mark Lee to host National Day Parade 2009
Jul 23rd
It is two weeks to the nation’s 44th birthday and participants have been heavily engaged in rehearsals. This is the first time that local host Mark Lee will be standing on the floating platform to host the National Day Parade (NDP). Winner of Project Superstar Season One, Kelvin Tan, will also be singing the National Day theme song for the first time.
The NDP costume performance will be divided into 10 chapters this year. These 10 chapters will surround the theme of our National Pledge to encourage Singaporeans to reflect on its meanings.
Besides acting in a skit for the parade, Lee will also be hosting the parade with Michelle Chong and Gurmit Singh.
“Though it is not August 9 yet, I can already feel the celebratory atmosphere of National Day hanging in the air. Hosting the parade rehearsals has been exciting and fun.”
Tan has been commissioned to sing the Mandarin version of the NDP theme song “What Do You See?”
“This song is very different from the styles I used to do. It is also the first time that I’m doing a rock tune,” Tan said.
Tan will also be singing a medley of classic NDP songs alongside Singapore Idol Season Two finalist Gayle Nerva.
Tan added, “I’m still feeling pressurized and nervous. But I think I’ll enjoy the moments and atmosphere.”
The NDP Preview will be held on August 1.

Singapore confirms first H1N1-related death
Jul 18th
SINGAPORE: A 49-year-old H1N1 patient, with multiple health problems, died on Saturday afternoon. The Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement that he died of a heart attack, contributed by severe pneumonia and H1N1 infection.
The victim, who had diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, was admitted to Changi General Hospital on July 16 after four days of flu-like symptoms.
MOH added that a 55-year-old man, also with multiple health problems, is the latest H1N1 patient to be admitted to intensive care.
He was tested positive for H1N1 after being admitted into Singapore General Hospital’s (SGH) intensive care unit.
He went to SGH on July 17, complaining of shortness of breath and fever, and was admitted after investigations showed that he had suffered an acute heart attack. The patient is currently in stable condition.
MOH said while the majority of H1N1 cases remains mild, the virus can cause complications and even death in high-risk individuals with underlying medical conditions.
Individuals in the high-risk group are advised to seek prompt medical attention if they suffer flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat and runny nose.
Members of the public who develop influenza-like illness can visit their nearest Pandemic Preparedness Clinic or their GP clinics for initial assessment and treatment.
If symptoms are severe, such as breathlessness and chest pains, members of the public are advised to call 995 immediately for an emergency ambulance.

Most of them are quite true about it. Give this quiz a try. Click here to proceed
Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.
The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.
Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.
The seriousness of your love:
You like to flirt and behave seductively. The opposite sex finds this very attractive, and that’s why you’ll always have admirers hanging off your arms. But how serious are you about choosing someone to be in a relationship with?
Your views on education
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.
The right job for you:

What are you most afraid of:
You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It’s time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.
Who is your true self:
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.
